    When Did Ritz Crackers Change

Benjamin WhiteBy Benjamin WhiteJune 27, 2023

Ritz Crackers have been around for nearly a century, and they have gone through quite a few changes in that time. From their original recipe to their modern-day ingredients, Ritz Crackers have evolved significantly over the years. In this article, we will explore the history of Ritz Crackers and how they have transformed over time.

    Ritz Crackers: A History

Ritz Crackers were first introduced in 1934 by the National Biscuit Company (now Nabisco). They were initially marketed as a luxurious snack, and they were instantly popular. The original Ritz Crackers were made with flour, yeast, sugar, and vegetable oil and were lightly salted. Over the years, the recipe was tweaked to include other ingredients such as high fructose corn syrup and monoglycerides.

Ritz Crackers have been a staple in American households for decades, and they are still a popular snack today. In fact, in 2020, Ritz Crackers were the top-selling cracker in the United States.

    The Transformation of Ritz Crackers

In recent years, Ritz Crackers have gone through some major transformations. In 2017, the company announced that it was removing artificial flavors and colors from its original Ritz Crackers. The new recipe included butter, sea salt, and natural flavors and colors.

In 2019, Ritz Crackers launched a new line of crackers called Ritz Bits. These bite-sized snacks come in a variety of flavors, such as cheddar, pizza, and s’mores. The Ritz Bits line also includes organic and gluten-free options.

More recently, in 2020, Ritz Crackers introduced a new line of crackers called Ritz Crisp & Thins. These crackers are made with real butter and are thinner and crispier than the original Ritz Crackers. They also come in a variety of flavors, such as sea salt, garlic butter, and sour cream & onion.

Ritz Crackers have gone through quite a few changes over the years, from their original recipe to their modern-day ingredients. They have removed artificial flavors and colors, launched new lines of crackers, and even added organic and gluten-free options. With all of these changes, Ritz Crackers remain one of the most popular snacks in the United States.
