    Benson Idahosa was born on July 17th, 1938 in Benin City, Nigeria. He was the son of a traditional chief and attended a local Catholic school. He was a brilliant student and excelled in school, eventually being accepted into the University of Ghana. He graduated from the university in 1963 and returned to Nigeria.

    In 1972, Benson Idahosa founded the Church of God Mission International. His church quickly gained a large following and he was soon considered one of the most influential figures in African Christianity. He was a major proponent of the prosperity gospel and preached a message of hope and faith. He also established numerous schools and hospitals throughout Nigeria.
