Cricket is played between two teams of 11 players, each team getting a chance to bat and bowl the ball. The task is to destroy the opponent’s wicket (wicket) with the ball.
The team that scores the most runs (runs) while batting wins the match.
A team is not bowled out until it has one unbeaten https://cricket-cup.com/. After the batting team has knocked out all the opposing batsmen, the teams change positions.
If you are confused, we will explain the rules in more detail below
The aim of cricket is to score more runs than your opponent. Points are awarded for what are called runs. The number of runs depends directly on how far the batsman has hit the ball. The farther away the ball flew, the more time the batting team will spend to return it to the center of the field, and in the meantime the player with the bat, moving from one “wicket” to another, gaining those very “runs”.
If the ball is not far away, the batter usually has time to make one run, if the ball has left the field surrounded by a rope, the team may be awarded up to six runs. The maximum number of points can be awarded if the ball leaves the field without ever touching the ground.
The nature of cricket is such that a match lasting between two and five days (a so-called Test match) can end in a draw. In five-day matches, in which only teams from different countries compete, each team gets two opportunities to pitch and bat (two innings – two rounds of wicket-taking). In the English Championship, where county teams compete, matches are played over four days.
Cricket is played on a large oval pitch, but the most important events take place in the center, on a specially prepared track called the pitch or wicket. It is a rectangle 20 meters long and three meters wide.
Cricket players
All 11 players of the batting team are on the field. The batting team has only two batsmen on the field, with only one of them taking part in the game itself and the other playing a supporting role until his partner is knocked out.
Of the 11 men of the pitching team, nine can be placed on the field as the captain decides, the 10th player – bowler – (bowler) throws the ball at the goal (necessarily from top to bottom with a straight arm from behind the shoulder), and the 11th (wicketkeeper) is directly behind the player with the bat. His task is to catch the ball behind the wicket.
Bowlers are divided into two types: fastbowler (a player who relies on throwing power) and spinner (someone who knocks out the opponent by spinning the ball).
The cricket ball is made of cork and covered with red leather. The leather pieces are stitched together in the center, and this slightly protruding upward part of the ball is called the “seam,” the presence of which is very important to the technique of pitching the ball.
The bowler will try to throw the ball so that it hits the ground with this seam, which will change its trajectory and make it harder for the batsman to react to it.
