Benjamin WhiteBy Benjamin WhiteJune 30, 2023

Snow Patrol was an alternative rock band from Northern Ireland that rose to fame in the 2000s with their hit song “Chasing Cars.” The band quickly gained a loyal following and their music was featured in various television shows, films, and advertisements. However, in 2013, the band announced that they had split, leaving fans wondering what happened to the beloved group. In this article, we’ll explore the rise of Snow Patrol and what life has been like for the band after their break-up.

    The Rise of Snow Patrol

Snow Patrol was formed in 1994 in Dundee, Scotland by Gary Lightbody, Michael Morrison, and Mark McClelland. The band spent the next few years building up their fanbase, releasing several independent albums, and performing in small venues. In 1998, the band moved to Northern Ireland and released their first major label album, “Songs for Polarbears.” The album was a critical success and helped launch the band’s career.

In 2003, Snow Patrol released their breakthrough album, “Final Straw.” The album was an instant success, spawning the hit single “Chasing Cars” which was a top-ten hit in the UK and US. The band followed up with several other successful albums, including “Eyes Open” and “A Hundred Million Suns.” The band was nominated for multiple awards and was even honored with two Ivor Novello Awards for songwriting.

    Life After the Break-Up

In 2013, the band announced that they had split. The band cited creative differences as the reason for their break-up. Since then, the members of the band have gone on to pursue solo projects. Lead singer Gary Lightbody has released two solo albums, while drummer Michael Morrison has released an album with his new band, The Mighty Oaks. Guitarist Nathan Connolly has released two solo albums and is currently working on a third.

In 2018, the band reunited for a series of concerts to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their album “Final Straw.” The band has since reunited for several other concerts and festivals, and in 2020 they released the album “Reworked.” While the band has not officially announced their reunion, fans are hopeful that the band will continue to make music together in the future.

Snow Patrol had a successful career that spanned over two decades. While the band has not officially announced their reunion, they have been performing together
