7 Must-Have Equipment Needed to Brew Beer Commercially

Benjamin WhiteBy Benjamin WhiteAugust 25, 2023

The craft beer industry continues to grow rapidly, and many amateur brewers are thinking about how to take their hobby to a new level and produce this beverage on a for-profit basis.

However, brewing on an industrial scale requires more than just a love for this craft – it requires the introduction of special equipment.

From 1/2 barrel keg to glycol chiller, in this article, you will find everything you need to brew beer commercially.

Equipment Needed to Brew Beer Commercially

    Kegerator

Kegerator is a refrigeration unit used to store and dispense draft beer.

This equipment helps maintain the desired temperature of your drinks and ensures that they are served in perfect condition: moderately cold, fresh, and aromatic.

When selecting this device, consider the following options:

    • Size: Measure the available free space near the bar counter and select the refrigeration equipment based on these measurements.
    • Capacity: Decide on how many barrels you plan to store in the kegerator.
    • Drink: Decide what types of beer you plan to serve. There are varieties requiring carbon dioxide for dispensing, while nitrogen is used for stout and ale. This must be taken into account when choosing a kegerator.

    Kegs

Kegs are steel tanks designed for beer storage.

Since we are talking about the industrial scale of production, the best option is to purchase ½ barrel keg.

It is a large steel barrel that can hold about 15.5 gallons (58.7 liters) of beer.

You can also buy smaller kegs such as quarter barrel and sixth barrel keg. These barrels are designed for 7.75 and 5.16 gallons respectively.

    Yeast Brink

It is a container used for yeast reproduction and storage.

Yeast brink allows the brewer to maintain a constant supply of yeast for fermentation, which is crucial for stable beer production.

    Beer Tower

The beer tower is a container in the form of a vertical column, which is often located on the bar counter.

This is the only visible part of the draft beer system, so it makes sense to think not only about the functionality but also about the aesthetic side of these products.

You have available the following models of beer dispenser: elbow, T, T-box, and Y tower, indie, cylindrical, wall mount, in European style, undercounter, pass thru, and others.

    Beer Tap

A beer tap is a valve used to control the flow of beer from a barrel. It is attached to the beer tower and is an important component of the draft beer dispensing system.

There are several types of beer faucets: with a front seal, with a back seal, as well as products for stout and ale dispensing.

    Glycol Chiller

It is a refrigeration unit that helps to control the temperature of the beer lines, ensuring that the beer remains fresh, delicious, and cold.

The glycol cooling system is the ideal solution for commercial production, where the kegs are located at a considerable distance from the dispensing point.

In addition, the glycol provides faster and more accurate cooling, as well as maintaining a narrow temperature range with a variation of 1°C.

    Drip Trays

Drip trays are installed under beer taps or kegs to protect from spilled beer. They help maintain cleanliness and improve hygiene.

These are just some of the basic equipment needed for commercial brewing. Depending on the scale of your activity, you may also need additional equipment such as fermenters, chilled vats, and dispensing or preservation lines.

All this and much more can be found on the Beverage Craft site, the company is very popular among brewers.

There is an inventory for both beginners and those who want to produce this drink on a commercial basis.

Contact Beverage Craft and you will be helped to choose everything you need for the production, as well as receive valuable advice on starting your own brewery.
